They identify ‘unrealistic expectations’ of the speed at which clients develop and make progress as probably the main pitfall inexperienced coaches make. This is followed closely by the temptation to feel the coach must always be urgently urging clients to take action rather than allowing time and space for the client. A similar difficulty is to avoid over preparing and anticipating the client’s agenda.
